Between June 5 and June 8 2023, BMTI will host a Delegation from Ecuador in Italy, with the aim of making its know-how available by organising a series of field work moments at the premises of BMTI, at the CAR Wholesale Market, and at the Rome Commodity Exchange. The visit will end with a final event at Unioncamere.
Representatives attending from Ecuador’s Ministry of Agriculture (MAG), of the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) and of the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries (MPCEIP), including the Undersecretary to Agroindustry.
In particular, during the works the participants will be closely guided in understanding the mechanisms related to pricing, data collection and analysis, economic information dissemination, and in participating to a practical demonstration on how negotiations in the Italian Online Commodity Exchange work. In this way, BMTI experts will continue the exchange of best practices commenced with the two workshops held in 2022, respectively on the tools for price transparency and dissemination, and on supporting SMEs active in agriculture and agri-food.
The organisation of “TAIEX INTPA Study Visit on Strengthening the capacities of Ecuadorian public institutions in supporting SME’s market access and competitiveness” has been possible thanks to the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) and the Delegation of the European Union to Ecuador.
The initiative received the support of the European Commission’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX) and is funded by the Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA).
